
Health Computer Systems, Inc. (HCS) was founded in 1986. Its objective was to design, develop and market the best possible information systems, services and products for the health industry. The first HCS product was directed to doctor's and dentist's offices. By 1988, HCS expanded its services to develop high quality Information Management Systems for the clinical laboratories. Since then, HCS has reoriented its efforts to supply the clinical laboratories industry with the most advanced technological tools available for information management systems, thus complying with all established regulations of the local and federal Health Departments.
In Puerto Rico, HCS has been the pioneer in several products such as: Results Reports pursuant the CLIA parameters, electronic filing of medical results, medical insurance cards, and doctors' prescriptions. HCS has also developed several electronic interfaces with clinical laboratory equipments to automatically transfer results and quality control (QC) data and the use of bar codes to identify patients and tests, and billing procedures. Currently, HCS is developing advance systems for medical, dentist, X-ray and hospital offices. In addition, we can provide assistance in areas such as third party billing, efficient patient processing, high volume results handling and archival and quality assurance processes.
Currently, our mainstream product “Sistema Automatizado de Información para Laboratorios” (SAIL acronym in Spanish) (COMPUTERIZED INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR LABORATORIES) has been successfully installed in more than one hundred and fifty (150) clinical, reference and hospital laboratories in Puerto Rico. HCS’s technical personnel is highly trained in the development and servicing of Information Management Systems for clinical laboratories in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
